The community of Igloolik is located on a small island of the same name in Foxe Basin, just off Melville Peninsula on the mainland of Nunavut. The name Igloolik traditionally means There is an igloo here, in Inuktitut. One can observe a multitude of Inuit cultures in Igloolik, some dating back more than 4,000 years.
