Settled at the bottom of a mountain, at the mouth of a river and situated on a coastal plain in the coast of the spectacular Pangnirtung Fiord, this community is surrounded by beauty of all sorts. Pangnirtung is located on Baffin Island, in Cumberland Sound. Pangnirtung is the nearest community to Auyuittuq National Park, accessible by a one-hour boat ride. There are however many other attractions for visitors in this large community.

Pangnirtung Fisheries contributes largely to the community’s economy through the harvesting and processing of arctic char and Baffin turbot (Greenland halibut). Their processing plant in Pangnirtung prepares the daily catch of fish before shipment to international destinations.

The community is also well knows for weaving and printmaking.
